Orbit is a messaging app built for families. Children talk to the people you approve — and only them. Messages stay between your family, not with us.
No ads. No algorithms pushing content. No strangers sliding into DMs. Just the people your family already knows.
Only the people in a conversation can read it. Not us. Not a data broker. Not anyone who might get into our servers.
See who your child is talking to. Get a ping when someone new wants to be added. Set word filters — without reading every message yourself.
New friend? Both parents have to agree before a conversation starts. No open inbox. No friend-of-a-friend surprises.
Block words you don't want to see. Ask to approve iffy messages before they send. Or leave it open — your call, per child.
Typing bubbles, reactions, read receipts. Everything children already know how to use — just without the parts that worry you.
Hand-me-down iPad? New phone on their birthday? Log in and keep going. If a device gets lost, sign it out and it forgets everything.
Three steps. No app store passwords required for children.
Sign up, add your children, and connect with other parents you trust. Children get a simple login code — no email needed.
When another family wants to connect, both parents must approve. Children see only the people you've okayed.
Messages flow encrypted. Content filters catch anything iffy. Parents stay informed without hovering.
Most chat apps protect your messages from everyone except themselves. Orbit is different — we designed it so we genuinely can't read what your family sends. Here's what that means, in plain English.
Only the two phones in a conversation hold the key. Anything in between just sees scrambled data.
Any age you think is right. Some families start their children chatting at 7, some wait until 12. You know your child best — we just give you the tools to decide when, and to set the boundaries you're comfortable with.
Not directly — and that's on purpose. Because messages are private end-to-end, nobody in the middle can read them, including us (which also means we can't hand them to you). What you can do: see who your child is talking to, approve every new contact, set word filters, and require your approval for iffy messages before they send. Oversight without spying on every word.
Short answer: we designed Orbit so the technical guarantees match the promises on this page. We don't ask you to take our word for it — we explain how it works. See the full security breakdown →
Those apps are built for adults. Anyone with your child's number can message them. Orbit flips that: children can only chat with people you've approved, and there are no stories, feeds, or ads trying to keep them scrolling.
Sign it out from your account and that device is wiped — the keys that let it read messages are gone. Give your child a fresh login code and they're back up on a new device. Old messages on the old phone stay locked.
Free while we're in beta. Long term, we plan a generous free tier plus paid plans for bigger families and extra features. No ads, no selling data — ever.
